NEW VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTSSchool is almost out and only a few of you have submitted the video completion certificate and viewed the Volunteer Handbook. Please do this before the end of the school year. You cannot volunteer in the building in September, or go on field-trips etc. if we do not have these completed forms. All volunteers must complete the on-line course on Adult Sexual Misconduct Prevention: http://tiny.cc/asmsps (this link is on our website @ http://lafayettees.seattleschools.org/. The video is about 25 minutes long. Follow the prompts and print out the completion form and turn it into the office. Keep a copy for your records. We will put it with your back-ground check application. Every year, we will require a new back-ground application to be filled out. You only have to watch this video once, not yearly. Turn in the completed forms to Selina or Kathleen. Please don’t leave this important task until September. This extra work, for all of us, is about the safety of Lafayette’s students. We will be happy to answer your questions. Thank you.

CHECK OUT OUR NEW SCHOOL WEBSITE at http://lafayettees.seattleschools.org/ The PTA website is still www.mylafayette.org and has recently been updated. Our family handbook was recently updated and linked to the school website.

NO PETS IN THE SCHOOL OR ON THE PLAYGROUND We love your little dogs, but you can’t bring them into the school, even in your arms. 🙁 Lafayette has some students with life-threatening pet allergies. Pets are not allowed on the playground at any time, as well. People (We are sure it couldn’t be Lafayette families!) are letting the dogs run loose and are not “scooping” up after them and our students step in “it” and bring it into the school. Yuck!

A NOTE FROM THE NURSE -Summer break is quickly approaching. If your child has medication at school, please stop by the nurse’s office on the last day of school to retrieve it. Medication left after 6/19/14 will be properly disposed of.

Also – Nurse’s office is in need of size 8 sweat pants and leggings for both boys and girls. Your donation of gently used clothing is greatly appreciated!

PARKING- Thank you for not parking in the staff parking lot or drop/pick up kids before and after school in this area. Thank you, also, for not parking in the front of the school in the bus zone or in the Bank of America parking lot.

LOST and FOUND We have quite an assortment of clothing items that have been left on the playground and in the hallways just since Spring Break. There is a basket in the office with a retainer, assorted keys, jewelry etc. Anything left on the last day of school will be donated to a local charity.

The June Menu is available.

BUILDING SAFETY Thank you to all parents who are checking in at the office. This is just a reminder again that all parents and visitors must sign-in in the office and pick up a visitor’s badge as per District Policy. We are adhering to the State and District requirements, but ultimately it is for the safety of your children. We need to know who is in our school at all times. Please do not escort your children to their classrooms. Please drop them off, and when the bell rings, allow them to come into the building on their own. We have too many people gathering in the halls when the students are entering the building. We respect your commitment to your child’s education, but safety has to be a top priority for our school. At the end of the school day, please wait for your child outside the school doors. Thank you!
