Our fundraising directly impacts our students, providing essential services. These funds provide resources which include but are not limited to Curriculum Materials, Enrichment Opportunities, Community Events, Tutoring, Room/Teacher Supplies, Garden Science Program, Technology and much, much more.
Fundraising is an important function of the PTA, it helps raise revenue to bridge public school funding gaps and is a source of funding many Lafayette programs. We value every donation—no matter the amount. We know there are many worthy causes to support and we THANK YOU for supporting the students of Lafayette.
FUNDRAISING POSTS
AUCTION and MOVE-A-THON
Our Auction and Walk-a-Thon events are major sources of funding for many programs at Lafayette. These fun, community building events historically gross over $100k.
Auction: The Auction (live + silent) is a major fundraising event at Lafayette. Historically held in the Spring, it is a wonderful way for the parents/guardians to build community while supporting our students. Hundreds of items are procured and donated from families and local businesses to help raise funds. Students participate by creating class art projects for Raise the Paddle.
Move-a-Thon: The Move-a-Thon is another primary PTA fundraising event of the school year. Historically held in the Fall, students collect donations and pledges for the event and then walk and/or run laps around the school playground. Sponsors donate fixed amount donations or pledge to pay a certain amount per lap walked. It is a fun and festive event with family members welcome.
SPONSORSHIP
A Lafayette Sponsorship is a great way to get much needed funds into the Lafayette PTA’s budget and also can benefit you or your organization by gaining exposure with the Lafayette and West Seattle community. Getting your organization’s name and/or logo on the Lafayette website, on Auction and Walk-a-Thon promotional materials, is a great way to show your support for the students of Lafayette. A Lafayette Sponsorship contributes in a BIG, DIRECT way to the success of the school and shows that your organization is looking out for the future of our community!
DIRECT GIVE
Simple. Efficient. Direct. Every dollar received through the Direct Give stays at the school to enrich your child’s learning experience and 100% of your donation is tax-deductible. Your donations to the PTA benefits every child in our school. Donations fund curriculum, specialist salaries, instrumental music, student school and classroom supplies, teacher professional development, and much more.
PayPal: Lafayette PTA welcomes a “Direct Give” at any time to our general fund. A “Direct Give” is a 100% tax deductible donation as the Lafayette PTA is a 501c3 non profit charity organization.
Giving Campaigns: Depending on the year, we participate in the Giving Tuesday and/or GiveBig campaigns. We know that there are many worthy causes to support and we appreciate you choosing to support ours.
Corporate Giving Campaigns: Does your workplace run an Annual Giving/United Way campaign? If your employer participates in an annual giving or the United Way Workplace Campaign, you can designate Lafayette Elementary PTA (or any charity) and your contributions will come directly to us out of your paycheck.
CORPORATE MATCHING PROGRAMS
Many employers will match donations or Read-a-Thon/Walk-a-Thon pledges, increasing your gift to Lafayette Elementary. Interested in Matching Funds with your Employer? Does your Employer offer Volunteer Grants?
Corporate Matching Programs: Your donation can be increased significantly when paired with an employer’s matching program. Many large businesses, including Microsoft, Starbucks, Expedia, Gates Foundation, and Boeing, match tax-deductible donations to non-profit organizations, such as the Lafayette Elementary PTA. Parents who use these programs contribute a significant portion of our fundraising to meet our goal. Ask your HR Department if there is a matching program, fill out and submit the form, and then watch your donation dollars double!
Corporate Volunteer Grants: Volunteer Grants programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work. Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer their time regularly. Your gifts of time and talents can mean a donation for Lafayette Elementary.

When you buy from Office Depot, Lafayette earns much need funds to help reach our fundraising goals (the higher the purchase amount, the greater the PTA earns). Everyone’s connected to a school in some way. Maybe you work there, or have family enrolled in one, or you have a great school in your community. No matter the connection, schools and the education they provide are important, and anything that can help stretch a school’s budget allows them to provide the best education possible.

We have two Scholastic Book Fairs during the school year. Shopping is available in person in the Library or online. Every year we typically raise over $2,500, proceeds raised range from 40-60% of sales and used to purchase books for the Library and each classroom.
