The Play’s the Thing! June 8 -10th @ West Seattle High School

The kids are presenting “The Little Mermaid Jr.” at West Seattle High School.  June 8th at 7pm, June 9th at 7pm and Saturday, June 10th at 2pm. The show runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes with one intermission.

There are so many ways to get involved in the school play! See below for job descriptions.

Tech Week kid-wranglers: These rehearsals can get fairly long as we stop to adjust lights and scenery etc. We need some parents willing to take groups of kids who are not on stage to play outside or hang out in another area of the school so our actors and crew can work.

*Show day kid wranglers: Lafayette staff! It would be great if you could take this on so that parents can be in the audience at our shows. I’ll need someone to do the same duties as described above, but during shows it’s mainly about keeping the kids quiet and occupied away from the stage door during the performance. Run time of the show is only about 1:15.

*Load in/Load out: Need a coordinator to recruit volunteers who can bring all scenery, set pieces, costumes etc. to the theater, and volunteers to strike the set after the show on Saturday June 10 and bring everything back to Lafayette.

*Hair and make-up: Need a volunteer(s) to gather the materials we’ll need and help kids with hair and make up design for the show.

*Concessions: Need a coordinator to solicit donations of snacks and drinks that we can sell at our shows to boost the profits we can use towards next year’s production! The coordinator will also be in charge of signing up volunteers to work before each show and at intermission.

Promotion and program: Need someone to design posters to advertise our show and put together a program. We have a cast member who has created an original design we’d like to use, and our show kit contains templates we can use for both the poster and program, so this should be an easy job for someone with computer skills.

Ticket sales:  Sell tickets prior to the show at West Seattle High School.
