Lafayette’s jump rope club, the POPCORNS, had a successful mini-fundraising campaign! We raised over $2,500 to support this year’s after-school jump rope program and want to thank all the wonderful parents who contributed! Popcorns is an after school jump rope club, open to 1-5 grades at Lafayette. The kids perform around town at events, public and private schools throughout Seattle and King County.
As young ambassadors for our school, the Popcorns promote exercise for health and do an annual fundraiser for American Heart Association. Last year they raised over $3000.00. This year we hope to raise $4,000! Lafayette’s annual Jump Rope For Heart, Jump A Thon will be on Thursday, February 27 from 3:35 to 5:00. All are welcome to sign up and join in for the fun day of jump roping in support of the American Heart Association. Students should turn in permission slips the week we are back from mid-winter break. Collection envelopes should be returned on day of the event to Mrs. Belfor. Kindergarteners will do the event during their P.E. time.
Popcorns recently performed to a roaring crowd of students, teachers and staff at St. John’s Catholic School in Seattle, Lake Dolloff Elementary in Federal Way, and Silver Lake Elementary in Federal Way. Great fun! Mrs. Belfor has received letters from the schools ‘The Popcorns’ have visited telling her how much they liked her team. They learned a lot from ‘The Popcorns and are now having fun jumping at their school.
We have another upcoming performance at the West Seattle’s YMCA “Healthy Kids Day” on April 26th. Come watch and support your school’s Popcorns!
