The Lafayette PTA is looking to build a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee to address issues in and around the building that may limit or exclude community members with special needs, identify & purchase books for the library featuring BIPOC/LGBTQIA+/characters with disabilities for classroom use, provide resources/virtual libraries for families with diverse authors + experts, collaborate and ideate with SPS schools and engage with the West Seattle Public School Equity Fund, and overall communicate & support families with resources to navigate difficult topics.
