2026 is a bargaining year for our teachers union, the Seattle Education Association is sharing updates if you'd like to follow their progress. If an agreement is not reached by the end of the month our teachers may strike. We will do our best to stay informed and aware about potential delays to the start of our school year. 

SDOT is planning to create a pedestrian only street on Lander, between California Ave SW and the alley behind Good Society. Your last chance for public comment either in favor or against is August 12th.

Help Create Calming Spaces in Every Classroom

This year, Lafayette is expanding Universal Design for Learning (UDL) supports to help create safe, calming, and welcoming spaces in every classroom. These spaces give students access to tools and environments that support focus, self-regulation, and learning success.

Lafayette staff has created an Amazon Wishlist of items that directly support these efforts.

We’re putting together next year’s Back to School Team, and we’d love your help creating a warm welcome for Lafayette families, especially our incoming kindergarteners!

The auction results are in, and together, we raised over $104,000!

The Lafayette Leopards ultimate team is once again gearing up for some frisbee!

Lafayette just got more accessible! We now have a new accessible loading zone.

This is great news for our community, as this loading zone is designated to support students with disabilities and their families, ensuring safe an accessible entry to the building.

The 2026 Washington State legislative session runs from January 12 to March 12.  Our legislators need to hear from us about the critical funding challenges facing our public schools.
