A note from our PTA President…

Dear Lafayette Community,

These past few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions for us all, from the initial shock of potential closure to the cautious optimism surrounding recent announcements from SPS. While your PTA believes Lafayette will not be on next year’s closure list, we must stay informed as the district continues to grapple with budget challenges.

Our dedicated Lafayette teachers and staff will do their best to navigate the challenges ahead, but they will need our continued support. Your involvement, from volunteering in classrooms to providing supplemental funding, is more important than ever to ensure a high-quality educational experience for our children.

Your generosity has been instrumental in supporting teacher training, tutoring programs, student enrichment activities, classroom supplies, field trips, and more. While we've had a surplus in recent years, it won't last. With increased enrollment and the district's budget constraints, we anticipate a significant rise in financial needs.

Last year, at this point leading up to the Move-a-Thon, we had already reached our fundraising goal. With a little over a week out, we are not even halfway there. I understand the hesitation to invest in our school during uncertain times, but Lafayette's continued success depends on our collective support.

Now is the time to come together and ensure that our children's education is not compromised.

By fundraising now, we can continue to bridge budget gaps while we fight for a better Seattle Public School system and challenge the State Legislature to prioritize our children's education. Together, we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment to a bright future for our children and to the future of Lafayette.

Make a donation today and help us ensure our children receive the education they deserve.

Yours in Partnership,
Sara Davis,
Lafayette PTA President
