PTA Meeting Recap: 5/4/2023
Thank you for making Staff Appreciation Week so successful for all of your teachers and support staff. We thank you also for attending the Lafayette General PTA meeting last week on 5/4/23. If you did not attend, we reviewed, voted, & approved the proposed budget for the 2023/2024 school year, received an update from the Rock of Ages Auction, and discussed open PTA Board Positions. Here are a few highlights to keep you in the loop:
STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK
As the school year is almost done with just 2 months to go, Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week was an ideal opportunity to honor those who nurture our children daily. They are the guardians of our community as they build our children’s strength, support their well-being, and help shape our children’s identities. We thank all of you for your support in this heavy lift for each of your classrooms as you all do so much all year to support teachers and the kids in each classroom. A few visual examples of how we expressed gratitude to all support staff are below as well.
PROPOSED BUDGET
The entire budget committee spent hours identifying income, how to spend the budget this year, and ideated on how to spend it next year 2023/2024. These funds are due to our amazing fundraising efforts during this 2022/2023 calendar year and a previous surplus due to the lack of spending during Covid. There are many increases to existing line items in addition to new ideas and we plan on spending ~$225K. The proposed budget was approved and we thank the Budget Committee for their tireless efforts. Yay!
ROCK OF AGES AUCTION UPDATE
Lafayette’s Rock of Ages Auction was a huge success with a big thanks to all Auction volunteers and particularly the Co-Chairs Jimmie Galaites and Alana Holmquist. The net income was ~$60K after overhead costs of Auctioneer, Rock Bot karaoke band, and the venue were taken into account. There were a total of 171 items available during the Silent & Live Auction with a big extra ‘You Go Girl’ to Tracy White Mollicone for her Procurement efforts! The team is looking ahead to supporting Lafayette during the next 2023/2024 calendar year as there are open positions due to families graduating and a desire to load-balance volunteering efforts. Detailed positions listed below under PTA open board positions.
