Get Approved to Volunteer!

Are you a passionate parent, grandparent, or caregiver who wants to make a difference in your student's education? Lafayette Elementary School is excited to invite you to join our volunteer program for the upcoming school year. By contributing your time and skills, you can play an active role in shaping our students' learning experiences. Read on to find out how to get involved and get approved as a volunteer!

  1. Why Volunteer? Volunteering at Lafayette Elementary School offers a rewarding opportunity to engage with your child's educational journey. By giving your time, you can positively impact the school community, support teachers and staff, and make lasting memories with your child. Whether you have a specific skill to share or simply want to lend a helping hand, your contribution is invaluable.

  2. Areas of Volunteer Involvement: There are various ways you can volunteer at Lafayette Elementary School, catering to different interests and schedules. From assisting in the classroom to organizing events, participating in extracurricular activities, becoming a Room Parent, or joining the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), you can find a role that suits your availability and interests.

  3. How to Get Approved as a Volunteer: Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. To become an approved volunteer, follow these steps:

    • Visit the SPS Volunteer Page to review the Online Training – Preventing Sexual Abuse of Children and Youth (17 min video) and the Volunteer Handbook.

    • Complete the Volunteer Application: Visit our school's website or contact the front office to obtain a volunteer application form. Fill it out thoroughly and provide any necessary supporting documents.

    • Background Check: As part of the approval process, all volunteers are required to undergo a background check. This measure helps maintain a secure environment for our students. This process takes up to two weeks.

If you have questions about your volunteer application or the process, contact Selina Jackson in the front office.

As the next school year approaches, Lafayette invites caregivers to get involved and make a positive impact on their student's educational journey. If you are eager to volunteer for the upcoming school year, now is the perfect time to express your interest. Reach out to the Lafayette Elementary School administration or the PTA to inquire about available volunteer opportunities or upcoming events where your help would be appreciated.

Together, let's make a difference!
