Kiddos growing out of their clothes? Need a fresh look to start the new school year but don’t want to spend the money? Look no further! This Fall, Lafayette will hold its first ever clothing swap! So, during this summer break, don’t let those too small, gently worn items go, save them for our exchange!

Golden Acorn Award Nominations
The Lafayette PTA is seeking nominations for the 2023-24 Golden Acorn Award, celebrating exceptional volunteers who go above and beyond for our Lafayette community. Nominations should showcase the candidate's service to all our students, encompassing their contributions through our PTA, within the school, and throughout the community. PTA membership is required for candidacy.
Nominations will close on May 24th, and the Golden Acorn Award Committee will make the final selection.If you know someone who makes a difference, nominate them today! Let's celebrate the bright lights of Lafayette together!

Positive Discipline Parenting Class with Mrs. Hart
Our school counselor, Kenna Hart, is offering a 6-week Positive Discipline Parenting Class on Wednesdays (May 1 - June 5) from 8-9 am. This class will help you learn the basic parenting approach of the Positive Discipline model by engaging in group activities and discussions.

Mother’s Day Flower Sale
This Mother's Day, support Lafayette Elementary and Hmong farmers by buying flower bouquets! Proceeds go to a SPS school of your choice and a Title 1 school in Seattle and are tax-deductible. Bouquets will be available to be picked up at Lafayette on May 11th, between 1:00-3:00PM. They are $60 for one bouquet or $100 for two.
Pre-order before May 4 to get your bouquet on May 11.

We're thrilled to get the Enrollment for Spring Enrichment underway! Registration opens at 7PM on March 25th. We have a variety of interesting classes to offer this season! Please register each child in only (1) class per session at this time. If more space becomes available, we will make further announcements.

Winter MAP Testing
Students recently completed winter MAP testing. Results can be found on The Source. You can see the percentile in which your student performed in comparison to their peers nationally. Should you have concerns, it's a great time to partner with your teacher and determine plans for closing gaps and how you can best support at home. Feb 1- March 1, 2024 Marks Black History Month.
February is Black History, though the accomplishments are worthy of daily celebration, there has been a designation to bring focus to the contributions of so many that have created change and impact on our world. Biased Language: Common Phrases in the English Language with Harmful History
Did you know that there are examples of biased words that are scattered throughout the English vocabulary? Biased language is made up of words or phrases that might make certain people or groups feel excluded or underrepresented. We can help create a more inclusive community within our school and neighborhood by ensuring the words we use don’t cause harm towards others unknowingly.
